MONTRÉAL, QC February 28, 2023 – Abbott has been recognized as one of "Montréal's Top Employers" for 2023 in Mediacorp Canada's annual employer survey.
First published in 2006, the designation recognizes industry-leading employers in Greater Montréal as exceptional places to work with the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
"Abbott has been a member of the Montréal community since 1931 and we have worked hard to earn a reputation as being a place Canadians want to work,” said Marie Josée Trudel, director of human resources, Abbott Canada. “We are so proud to be included among Montréal's best and we are committed offering the best workplace to our employees who tirelessly serve healthcare professionals and consumers across the country each and every day.”
Abbott employees enjoy a strong sense of community driven by the purpose of helping Canadians lead healthier lives through the company’s leading portfolio of life-changing technologies and nutrition products. Additionally, Abbott has been a pioneer in offering flexible work options long before the pandemic brought widespread adoption of these types of options to the forefront. Additionally,
Editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers use the same criteria to evaluate employers as the national competition: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement.
Programs and policies that helped Abbott standout included:
- Three weeks of paid vacation for new employees and extended holiday time including a Christmas to New Year's holiday period, from five to seven days depending on the province
- Abbott sought employee feedback in developing a formal hybrid work option which includes the unique feature of working core hours only onsite
- Employee development programs including tuition subsidies up to a $15,000 maximum over five years
“Montréal has long been a leader in offering both flexible and dynamic work environments,” said Kristina Leung, managing editor at the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. “A thriving workplace culture, unique benefits and supportive policies that prioritize employees’ wellbeing are key factors that distinguish this year’s Montréal’s Top Employers.”
